Welcoming 'Motorsport Prospects' to our Newsletter

Our way of adding more value to your favourite weekly newsletter.

Welcome to the weekend!

We’re excited to announce that Mark Boudreau from Motorsport Prospects has joined our newsletter! Mark is a semi-retired lawyer who started Motorsport Prospects to deliver content & consulting services for the business of racing.

Racing is an expensive sport and there aren’t many publications that the drivers, teams and even parents can refer to, for information about sponsorships, driver development, choosing the right series, etc.

Mark’s content is a valuable niche for the community and adding him to our newsletter just felt right. Every Friday you’ll find his content in our new section, News Racers Can Use, and there’ll be links out to his website where you can read the full length features.

Welcome aboard, good sir!

Formula 1

We’re going racing to appeal penalties !

As Formula 1 is mid way through a four week break, Carlos Sainz and Ferrari have appealed to the FIA that their penalty from the Australian GP was just a bit too much.

As a recap, that race had three restarts and on the second one, Carlos Sainz collided with the Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso going into T1. Sainz was given a five second penalty at the end of the race but here’s where it gets tricky - that race itself (basically) ended under a red flag. So while Sainz crossed the line in P4, the entire field was right behind him which means a five second penalty puts him out of the points in P12 - no bueno.

A virtual hearing is set for April 18th.

Next race: Sunday, April 30th @ 7am EST

News Racers Can Use

Sim racing - more than just a game

Sim racing is an important tool for driver development and as the technology gets even more sophisticated, that’ll only make it more so.

From learning a track to improving your race craft, the sim is a critical tool for drivers that’ll help you go faster in real life racing (or IRL as they sim racers call it!)

And no, the sim cannot replicate real racing with all its variables (fear factor, cockpit temp, etc.) but nobody ever said that they do. Like any other tool, when it’s used correctly, it can bring great results.

In addition, sim racing is also a great new avenue to introduce people to the sport, especially those who may not have access to motorsport for financial or socio-economic reasons. It can also give those who excel in sim racing an opportunity to become involved in real world racing, as we’re seeing happen more and more these days.

In this week’s Sim Racing Roundup, I bring you details on how a GB4 competitor uses sim racing to hone his skills, how sim racing is growing in India and bringing real world success, and how Daniel Ricciardo, yes - Danny Ric himself, used a simulator to regain his confidence.

Prototype to Production

Phil with Goran Turkic, the Founder of Tedson Motors

Remember last fall when Phil got a chance to drive in the Tedson Motors ‘Daydream’ prototype through the mountains of Croatia? Well, Tedson Motors is now officially a car company with it’s first customer delivery!

Delivered at the New York Auto Show during media day, Daydream 001 is going to their legendary US dealer, Manhattan Motorcars (just an fyi, MMC also sells Koenigsegg). So while the restomod space is crowding at a record pace, Tedson Motors is far from ‘just another restomod’..

With only 50 units slated for production, click here to learn more about why these allocations are being scooped up so quickly.
