If you haven’t already heard, Radical have announced the second installation of their World Finals will be held in Portimao later this year! We were at the inaugural event last fall (see below) and it was a tremendous turnout for the single make series.

In recent years, Radical have been absolutely crushing it with growth worldwide, and it’s obvious why..

Radicals are ‘baby aero’ cars with just ~225 horsepower coming from a reliable Hyabusa motorcycle engine. With enough mechanical grip to bridge the gap to the aero grip they provide, new and seasoned drivers alike can afford a high performance, safe and reliable, track monster.

Mercedes game plan - more than just a paint job

At the start of the season, Mercedes declared that the force was with them, going full Darth Vader with the black paint. A no nonsense approach telling other teams they’re channeling 2021, where a certain something happened in the last race of the season while Mercedes was tied for the championship - but we won’t get into that..

Now, only after a few rounds in 2023, it seems that Mercedes is finding it’s feet with the W14, saying that recent performance gains are just the ‘tip of the iceberg’. With Red Bull limited on development time and wind tunnel testing, can Mercedes bridge the gap? ..could we potentially be in for a 2021 finish all over again? We surely hope so.

Sponsor agreements, why you need a contract 📜

The importance of contracts in motorsport should not be underestimated, especially where considerable sums of money are often exchanged between teams, drivers, and sponsors.

As a semi-retired lawyer, I obviously urge everybody to ensure that they have valid, signed contracts when conducting their motorsport business - and this includes sponsorship agreements!

A sponsorship agreement ensures that all parties are protected by clearly stating the obligations that each party have committed to and, more importantly, how any conflicts will be dealt with.
