Porsche debuts the new GT3R rennsport..

Happy Friday!
Porsche have just revealed the GT3 R rennsport at this years Rennsport 7 gathering at the Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca.
And in classic Porsche form they’ve taken a good thing and made it - gooder..

The new track-focused model takes the Porsche GT3 R race car to it’s unbridled potential. Our friend Daniel Morad actually won the 24 Hours of Daytona in a Porsche GT3 R and while he’s told us that it’s a brilliant platform - any race car driver will tell you that limiting a cars performance (cough*Balance Of Performance*cough) absolutely sucks..
So that’s why this new model is here. The GT3R rennsport is here to remind customers of what exactly lies on the other side of performance, when you step out side the walls of series mandated specifications, rules and blah blah.
The GT3R rennsport is only here to go fast and look awesome - and with only 77 being produced, we’re sure we’ll see one of them running around Mosport sometime next year 😉

Has Formula 1 reached peak popularity?

Has Formula 1 reached peak popularity? That’s the argument being made after the release of a new research study by Buzz Radar. The study states that Formula 1 has witnessed a dramatic drop in social media mentions, new followers and reach, off the back of Red Bull’s 2023 season domination.
In combing through the report, Autosport reports that “Buzz Radar’s analysis suggested that the boom of 2022 – boosted by the dramatic 2021 title fight and new car rules – may well mark a high-point of interest in F1 for a while.”
According to the report, data from early 2023 suggests growth may have already peaked. Alarming drops compared to 2022 were detected in key metrics:
➔ Social media mentions: Down 70%
➔ New followers across major accounts: Down 46%
➔ Overall social media reach: Down 64%
The report also notes that the tone of conversations also shifted notably. In 2023 fans are using much more negative language like ‘boring’ and ‘annoying’ – a big departure from the highly positive terms like ‘exciting’ and ‘interesting’ that we found to be common in 2022.
According to Buzzfeed AI models, they forecast that if current domination continues, F1 could lose 50% of the new fans it has gained by 2024.
Interestingly and perhaps not surprisingly, Racing News 365 reports that F1 disputes the report’s methodology and conclusions.
According to F1, F1’s in-house data suggests that growth across official FOM channels in 2023 is almost eight times (757%) bigger than the 3.7 million claimed by Buzz Radar. In the second quarter of 2023 – April 1st to June 30th – F1-owned channels ranked second globally for follower growth rate across top sporting leagues. Only La Liga – Spain’s top football division where the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid play - ranked higher.
Meanwhile, F1 measured active engagements – counted as likes, comments, and shares, was up 4% on the Year to Date against 2022, with 1.5 billion engagements expected to be collected for the third season in a row.
Keep in mind as well that there are two major American F1 events coming up in Austin and Las Vegas that will spur an increase in conversations, whether those are negative or positive remains to be seen.
