Drive Fest 2023
A celebration of motorsport

Welcome to the weekend!
Today officially kicks off Drive Fest 2023 - a celebration of motorsport that takes place annually at the beloved Mosport Raceway just north of Toronto. Over the course of three days there’ll be ‘celebration runs’ from all eras in motorsport, going backwards from Turn 5 (this configuration lends itself to more uphill corners, making it feel like a Goodwood FOS run..)
We’re super excited to see our friends both on and off track - click here to follow us/the action on Instagram!

F1 feels the squeeze from Max’s dream season
It looks like Formula 1 is starting to feel the pressure on delivering a more exciting season. The recent influx of casual fans has been great for adoption rates but now it’s about retention - and we don’t blame them; it’s hard for casuals to stick around when even we tune out after the first few laps of Maximum Verstappen..
The casual fans were sold on gladiators engaged in high-speed warfare but what they really got was some dude in a fast car doing not much (ok that’s not technically true and he’s also really talented, but that’s not visible to most eyes as they watch all the cars ‘do the same thing’ through every turn 🤣)
..makes you really miss the old F1, when Bernie sold the show and it was all about noise and ruckus, sex & cigarettes 😏🤘
Next race: Sunday, September 18th @ 8am EST (Singapore GP)

Hugo Boss is looking to take advantage of F1’s booming popularity

The explosion of popularity that is Formula 1 these days is encouraging more and more brands to hitch their ride to the racing series. One such brand looks to be fashion giant Hugo Boss.
Hugo Boss has had a long and storied presence in Formula 1 and most recently are sponsors of the Aston Martin Formula 1 team, but their aspirations are now growing. After being a major brand partner with Formula E since Season 4, it looks like their target now is to be the title sponsor of an F1 team.
“We can confirm that our contract as a partner of Formula E will expire at the end of this season. It has been a great partnership for us and together with Porsche we have delighted a large number of fans worldwide over the years,” a spokesperson for the company told Motorsport-Magazin.com. “Hugo Boss is realigning its existing commitments in sport and we will focus only on Formula 1 in the future,” the spokesperson added.
What team you may ask? The rumour is that they will take over the title sponsorship of the AlphaTauri F1 team with Red Bull’s blessing. For a brand to conclude all other motorsport commitments to focus on Formula 1 only goes to prove that the series is currently the strongest it has ever been commercially. How strong it will remain with the domination of one team and one driver remains to be seen but it is full steam ahead for F1 now.
