Charging Towards EVs

First photos of the new 2025 Dodge Charger EV

Welcome to the weekend!

The good folks at Dodge have leaked some photos of their upcoming all-electric 2025 Dodge Charger EV - and we just don’t understand..

Now, while the concept car looked kind of awesome…. We can’t say we’re super thrilled with this iteration of the final product. It feels more like a Nissan Z product and not something from the depths of Detroit.

Click here to take a look for yourself, but it feels like a far cry from the Charger ethos..

News Racers Can Use

Happy New Year! As we slowly start to see the pandemic fade in our rear-view mirror, there is a lot to look forward to with motorsport in 2024. Here are three trends to watch for.

A Rejuvenated Sportscar Scene

We keep hearing that it is a golden age of sportscar racing and it is hard to argue against it. With manufacturer interest at an all-time high, sportscar racing globally is undergoing a renaissance that is both exciting and entertaining. But the sport must make sure that it takes care of privateer teams as this level of manufacturer interest will not be sustainable once they start losing.

The Drive to Survive Effect

Clearly Formula 1’s popularity has seen a major boost from the Netflix juggernaut that is Drive to Survive so it is no surprise that NASCAR, Formula E and Indycar are looking at replicating this success. But being first has its benefits and whether fans embrace these new sports docs is an open question. As for Formula 1, will the lack of on-track action blunt the gains it has made with new fans, especially in the United States?

Sustainability and Inclusion

Motorsport is not immune from societal change and the move towards a more sustainable and inclusive society off the track will affect what motorsport does on it. The advances in sustainable motorsport have been accelerating with battery electric, sustainable fuels, and hydrogen (both combustion and fuel cell) as a form of propulsion have clearly demonstrated that motorsport’s future is eclectic. The drive to make the sport more inclusive is also making inroads, too slow for many and too fast for a vocal minority. Expect more programs and awareness in 2024 and beyond as the pit lane slowly begins to resemble the society we live in.

This year will bring some exciting changes to Motorsport Prospects as it continues its mission of connecting race drivers with those motorsport professionals that can help them reach their motorsport goals. Watch this space for the details!

Bring on 2024 and see you at the track!
