A Celebration of Motorsport at Mosport

Special cars running on a special track..

Happy Friday!

We had an awesome time last week at Drive Festival and it was so great to see that many people turn out for the (third?) running of this motorsports celebration. We’ll spare the banter and just skip to the good stuff, caught by Phil on the Saturday..

‘Flexible wings’ are the talk of the town

Street circuits mean wall taps and FP2 in Singapore delivered just that, but surprisingly nothing big enough to draw out the red flags - other than that of wing flexing..

It’s the talk of the town this weekend at the Singapore GP and if you’re unfamiliar with the term ‘flexible wings’, then this video will help clear things up.

In a sport that’s all about ‘the unfair advantage’, then maybe that gap has been closed for some teams that have fallen down the timing charts earlier today…… 🙄

Next race: this Sunday, September 18th @ 8am EST (Singapore GP)

There’s also this 2015 Jaguar F-Type S Coupe Supercharged V6 with a salvage title coming up - your change to get a great machine that puts out a proper punch.

Auction starts: Friday, September 22nd @ 7PM EST

The Aston Martin Valkyrie LMH Race Car could Finally Debut

Aston Martin is reportedly close to reviving its Valkyrie LMH project for the 2025 WEC and IMSA seasons according to Autosport. “Autosport has learned that Aston and Heart of Racing, which is backed by computer games tycoon Gabe Newell, are closing in on a deal to bring a car conceived to start racing in 2021 to the track finally. The deal is not done as yet, but it is understood that it could be just weeks away.”

This is quite interesting because Aston Martin was one of the original manufacturers behind the Hyeprcar class when it was first proposed, and they fundamentally changed some of the earlier Hypercar concepts before ditching the WEC for Formula 1.

If Aston Martin does in fact return to the fold in 2025, they will be joining a World Endurance Championship that will be brimming with Hypercars from manufacturers such as Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, Lamborghini, Toyota, Cadillac, Porsche, Acura, Peugeot, Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus, Vanwall, Isotta Fraschini and Alpine.

To say that we are in a golden age of sportscar racing is an understatement so enjoy this abundance of manufacturers race against each other over the next few years while you can as good things like this never last.
